Courses for General Purpose
Courses are available as two options; a) 1-month 36 hours (9 hours a week) b) 2-month 44 hours (5-6 hours a week). Upon request tailor-made courses are also offered.
12-level Spanish courses consist of 4 basic, 4 intermediate and 4 upper-intermediate levels. Lessons are taught in accordance with the European Language Portfolio requirements. Students reach the level of B2 upon the completion of standard education.
Upon completion of basic and intermediate levels, students are given a certificate. A “TÖMER Diploma” approved by the President of Ankara University is given to students completing upper-intermediate level successfully.
We employ student-centred eclectic approach, where lecturers are moderators, and every student has equal right to speak and is required to be active throughout the lesson. Lessons are taught in Spanish. Four main language skills, Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, and grammar as a sub-skill are equally included in lessons.
Nuevo Ven 1 and Workbook at basic levels, Nuevo Ven 2 and Workbook for intermediate levels, Nuevo Ven 3 and Workbook for upper-intermediate levels, listening CD’s and DVD’s and supplementary exercise booklets, prepared by TÖMER Spanish Department, are used in general purpose Spanish courses. Our course books equally focus on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in accordance with the Common European Framework.
Courses for Specific Purposes
Courses for YDS, DELE, AIESEC, the exams of some official and private institutions, and general translation are available upon demand. In these courses, common test techniques and grammar skills are studied.
Speaking Club and Speaking Classes
Speaking clubs are available for our students at different hours. Various topics of interest are discussed among students under the supervision of experienced Turkish and Spanish, Mexican and Columbian lecturers. These classes are free of charge for TÖMER students.
We also offer courses focusing solely on speaking as a course for specific purpose
At the end of the course period students take the final exam aimed at assessing the four main language skills. Should a student fail one of the skills of the exam, he/she can take a make-up exam. However, failure in more than one skill requires the repetition of the course.

At some levels assessment of students’ performance by the instructor rather than an exam is the method for students’ failure or success. Considering the performance of the student, his/her attendance, homework, quizzes the instructor assess the student as fail or pass. Students who fail this assessment may require to take an exam.
