THE VISA REGIME FOR FOREIGNERS
Foreigners who would like to travel to our country must either apply to one of our representatives abroad or get an e-visa through www.evisa.gov.tr. It is recommended that visa applications be submitted one month before the scheduled travel date due to the possible delays that may occur during the process for obtaining the visa.
-An e-visa is an alternative to the visa given previously with “banderol” or “cachet” at the ports of entry. Appliers can get their visas electronically through www.evisa.gov.tr submitting the information required and paying by credit card. After the applications have been completed successfully, e-visas are sent to the appliers’ e-mail accounts.
-Appliers are required to submit the hard copy of the e-visa to airline and border officers and keep it throughout the travel.
-The e-visa is not valid for travels except for the ones for touristic or commercial purposes (working, studying etc.) These kinds of applications should be submitted through our representatives abroad.
-The information below is valid for travels for touristic purposes. If the purpose is to come to Turkey to study or work etc. an appropriate visa must be obtained from our representatives abroad.
-The information below does not include professional drivers. It is recommended for them to get information via our representatives abroad regarding “the visa regime applied to professional drivers”.
-It is recommended to have a “titre de voyage” /passport which is valid for at least 6 months as from the date the travel begins.
-The term “Official Passport” includes diplomatic, service, private or official passports.
-Foreigners (regardless of their nationalities) who are “titre de voyage” holders are required to get a visa from our representatives abroad.
-Except for the foreigners who can exempted from visa, all the foreigners are required to get a visa through www.evisa.gov.tr or our representatives abroad. Foreigners who come from the countries where there are no representatives of ours must submit their visa applications to our representatives which are accredited to their countries.
-Foreigners who come Turkey to make a documentary film, do scientific research, make archaeological excavations, or to do similar activities are required to apply for our representatives abroad and get all the requisite permissions from related Turkish authorities.
-Foreigners who already have a valid visa do not have to obtain a residence permit. However, foreigners who come to Turkey with a visa with a specific annotation (studying, working etc.) are required to get residence permit from the Police Office located in the very first city as soon as they arrive in Turkey regardless of the expiry dates of their visas.
